The mind of a shop owner on the day of the craft fair

Today I spent the day at a craft fair.  I”ll be there tomorrow, as well.
I’ve spent the better part of the last 2 weeks sewing in overdrive so I would be prepared.  I am exhausted and really feeling like I haven’t been as present in the girls’ lives as I would have liked.
I thought I’d share some thoughts that run through my mind every single time I do a craft fair.
The mind of a shop owner on the day of the craft fair:
Early morning thoughts…
  • Do I have enough stuff?
  • I don’t have enough stuff.
  • Do I have time to make anything else before I get there?
  • I don’t want to have too much stuff.
  • I wonder where my booth will be?
  • How far are the bathrooms?
  • It’s cold.  Will I be warm enough?
  • Did I remember my gloves?
Set up thoughts…
  • Does this look right?
  • How could I make it better?
  • Should I rearrange my products?
  • I don’t have enough decorations.
  • Are my products visible from a distance?
First hour’s thoughts…
  • I’m not going to sell anything.
  • Why am I here?
  • I could be in bed with the kids watching cartoons.
  • Am I wasting my time?
  • Will I sell anything?
  • Everyone else’s booth looks awesome.
  • I should have [fill in the blank].
  • Everyone else is having a ton of sales.
  • I keep hearing cash registers.  …And bags being opened.
  • I don’t like “selling” my product to people. {verbally}
  • Hey, wait!  I’m just talking about what we use at home and what makes our lives easier.
  • There sure are lots of browsers.
Later in the day thoughts…
  • People were looking for my booth?  MY booth!
  • People remembered me from the last craft fair?
  • People have been on my website enough to know my prices?
  • People read my blog?  Wow!
  • People who like my Facebook page came looking for me?
The morning always starts off slow and by the end of the day I am always humbled and grateful.
If you do craft fairs, do you find that your mind works the same way?  Am I the only one who starts out   insecure?
xoxo
