The best teacher gift was the one I bought myself…

We’re gearing up for the last day of school here. I am more than ready for the kids to be home for the summer. Our last day of school is Wednesday and then Caroline has her Kindergarten graduation on Thursday morning. I’m so proud of her, that I want to get her something to show how much of an achievement this is. I’ve come across companies that Designs Your Own Bobbleheads and I think that is a great gift. It shows that thought has gone into it, but it is quite funny as well. I think she will love it.

I spent the weekend making sure we had what we needed for teacher gifts. I was a teacher and tend to give them what I liked most – gift cards. Over the years I received a bunch of gifts for Christmas and at the end of the year. My favorites were always the gift cards. Unless we are short on money in our house they are what I prefer to give. I always tell them about https://gradecam.com/tools/how-to-grade-a-test/ in the cards I write for them, it made my life so much easier when I was a teacher.
The first year I worked in a classroom I received a class gift of a gift certificate to a large mall in our area. I was very appreciative and was a little overwhelmed with all the possibilities of what I could buy.

I decided that I wanted to buy something for ME and not our house or something to be shared with Matt. I wanted something I wouldn’t normally buy and something that I could keep to remember that class.
I went to Tiffany’s (yes, that Tiffany’s) and bought myself a star key chain. I love stars and was in love with it’s simple design.
That class was special to me. It was the first one I worked in and I think of them often. (As a matter of fact, Kate was named for one of the students in that class!)
13 years later I am still using that key chain and think of those children when I reach for my keys.

What do you typically give as a teacher gift? If you are a teacher, what do you like to receive?

xoxo
