Summer reflections done at the beach

There was some radio silence from me last week on Facebook and on the blog.  We were on our annual August vacation at the beach.  I’ve posted a few pictures on Instagram and Twitter so if you follow me there, you’d know where we were.

Truth be told, I brought a ton of work to do: parenting class work, blogging work, and sewing work.  I’ve did none of it.

Instead, I spent my mornings at the beach and the afternoons in the pool.  I took a few naps, a couple walks, did a little reading, and lots of playing in the sand.  My soul needed this break.  Our kids needed this break.  Our marriage needed this break.

We arrived back home on Sunday morning and K & C started Kindergarten & 1st grade today.  We’re hitting the ground running.

I was thinking about all the things we didn’t do this summer.  We made a list.  I doubt we did half of it.  It’s a good thing I’m not the type of person to dwell on what we didn’t do, because what we did do?  It was fun.  And amazing.  And kid-centered.

I think I’m going to have the girls make a list of all the things we did do – which will help jog their memory for when school starts.  I know that list will be much longer than the things we wanted to do.

Has school started in your area yet?  Or are you trying to squeeze in the last bits of summer?

xoxo
