On the move

We're moving! We're not yet sure of where or how but we've made the decision. Follow us on our journey!

We’ve been talking about moving forever, it seems. We’d ideally love to move to South Caroline near the beach. Since Matt’s job is in the northeast, that plan has been put on hold for a while. I think we’ve been talking about it for so long because we didn’t know what the best decision was. Should we move locally and stay here forever? Should we move locally and stay here for a few years? Should we just stay in our current house until we can move south?

Decisions are hard. Being the adult is hard.

This month we made it official – we’re moving.

We’re not sure where we’ll end up locally. We may build or we may buy a house. I scan the MLS listings like it’s my job every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We’re trying to narrow our areas down by what school district we’d like to live in. Our area has 17 different school districts and because I was a teacher, I’m pretty picky about them. Matt’s enjoying the thought of it, as it means he can look at heavy trucks for sale in bc to help us move, he’s always wanted a truck, haha!

The first step is getting our house listed on the market and whoa is that a lot of work! Have you ever moved? The last time we moved we didn’t have kids and that was a huge undertaking. Now we have three times the amount of stuff. I’ve taken some tips from my friends Jill and Miranda about how to make this process easier for me. I’ve started packing our house up a bit and have started to channel the minimalist tendencies I wish I had by getting rid of a ton of stuff.

This is going to be an interesting journey.
We have no idea where it’s going to take us.
We have no idea when we will get there.
It’s scary and exciting all at the same time.

I do know that this journey is going to stretch us and test us.
Somehow I hope I’ll be thankful for the ride.

I’ll be documenting our process and the crazy it’ll bring. Please chime in with tips for packing, purging, cleaning, storing, etc. What service do you use to look for houses – Zillow, Realtor.com, Redfin, Trulia, etc?

I welcome them all!

xoxo
