My new blog…

In an effort to not drive my family & friends crazy with Facebook photos of new projects I have started a sewing blog.  I imagine I am not driving my family crazy, but some friends?  They may be tired of all the project photos.  Anyway, it’s time I start channeling some of my energy to actually put everything in one place.  This is my attempt at that.

I guess you can say I was always interested in sewing.  I remember being a little girl and watching my grandmother sew in her basement.  I was in awe of her sewing machine and how she could imagine what something would look like, design it, and then create it.  She was one talented lady.  Funny thing is, I don’t even know if she knows that I sew.  She lives in Portugal and the last time she came to visit, I hadn’t started getting into it yet.  I wonder if she’d be amazed that I can actually sew a dress?  I’ll have to ask my dad if he knows.

Then when I was a teenager, I remember our very close family friend/ cousin sewing all the time.  She would sew at random hours and work incessantly to get things right.  I was always amazed at the time commitment she devoted to her sewing.  At that age, I couldn’t have imagined having something I enjoyed doing so much that I would forgo sleep over it.  Now, in my late 30s, I would sew all night long.  Well, if my girls didn’t need me to be coherent the next day, I would.  Once you’ve had kids, sleep doesn’t seem as necessary as it did when you are a teenager.  And seriously?  I don’t sleep as soundly any more anyway.  I am always listening for little feet, opening doors, or a teething baby.

Anyway, keep coming back to check and see what I am up to.  I plan on posting some past projects and current projects.  I am also in the process of getting ready to sell my snack bags online.  So stay tuned…  Lots more to come!

Do it Janey! Or at least post something on Facebook. I know you were getting a lot done in the fall.
