Land of Nod inspired cushion

The internet does not help, at all, with my sewing problem addiction.  I spied these Land of Nod seat cushions on Susan’s website, Living with Punks.  I love to give credit where credit is due!  She has a fabulous tutorial on how to make these and I was surprised at how easy they were for me.  The big girls each got one for Christmas from us.  I have yet to make one for Rebecca and it’s just because I haven’t found fabric I like for her yet.  I’m still looking.

Land of Nod has 2 different kinds of seat cushions.  The one seater & the two seater.  Susan’s tutorial is for the one seater.  Since I didn’t have a compass (a.k.a. couldn’t find one), I ended up with a 20 inch circle, instead of a 17″ one.  It’s in between the sizes of the one seater & the two seater.  It was a bit more work to calculate how much fabric I needed to go around the side walls but it was doable.  But it also required piecing together the large side wall piece with a small piece to make it long enough.

Don’t let these fool you.  They aren’t any cheaper than if you would buy them.  I needed a yard of fabric which would normally cost me $30.  Thankfully the home dec fabric was on sale at Joann’s.

Here are a few pictures:

And here’s a picture of the handle the girls use to carry it around:

And a bonus picture of our dog making himself comfy:

So what do you think?  Could you make one?

Susan, I've never even seen home dec fabric for $5! I'd love it if I did, though. I had to do some wrangling since I changed your measurements but I love them.

Amy, I keep a sewing journal. It's a list of projects I want to work on, clippings from catalogs of things I want to make, and drawings of things I design.
