Kate’s Kindergarten Graduation

Kate graduated from Kindergarten in June.  Kindergarten.  I feel like the year went so fast even though I know it really didn’t.
Here she is on the first day of school.
And on the last:

You can see how much she’s grown by how high has gotten on the door and how short her dress became.  She had to wear shorts under it on the last day!

I made her a new dress for her graduation.  She picked the fabric and I merged two patterns together for a new but similar style.

This is a letter I wrote to her teachers on the last day of school.  They were AMAZING and I will miss them terribly next year.
Dear {teacher},
I’m not going to lie… sending our
child off to Kindergarten was scary. Knowing that she was going to be
influenced outside of our control made me anxious.  I remember how nervous she was her very first
day too.  It was a little overwhelming
for all of us.
It’s interesting because I was a teacher. And although I knew the
importance and value of my students, I never thought about how the parents must
be feeling.  Nor did I realize the impact
teachers really have on their students until our own child was a student. The
sun rises and sets on you. She knows your favorite colors and what you like to
drink. She misses you on the weekends and smiles the second we say your name.
Thank you.  You were more than her teacher.  You were her mother, father, confidant,
nurse, counselor, and friend for 6.5 hours a day. That’s more time than we
spend with her per day. I am so incredibly thankful that we have you in our
lives to help continue to nurture and love one of our most precious treasures.
For that, we love you.
With deepest thanks and appreciation,
{Our family}
Next year Kate will be in 1st grade and Caroline will be going to Kindergarten.  Some how the thought of doing it all over again seems easier.
xoxo

Awww. I love it. And goodness you make beautiful dresses. Isn't it amazing how those few months make them look so incredibly different?

That is one of my favorite before-and-after photo ideas, with the same dress! I do a "then and now" comparison of my daughter on FB for my family, and I am totally stealing this idea! Your dresses are SO cute, too! =)
