Gift Tags & Note Cards – Simple Solutions

We love birthdays.  The girls love giving gifts and I love wrapping them.  The girls love to help me wrap and we have a lot of fun using ribbons and bows.  What neither of us like are the birthday cards.  The girls, as much as they love to read the card, are like most kids:  they want to get to the opening of the present.  I don’t like buying them because I know that after I spend $4 on one, it’s likely going to get thrown out.  Whether it’s an hour after the party or a few weeks, that card has a shelf life.

We’ve found a fun way to avoid a birthday card and make our gift tag fun.

Here’s my Simple Solution  for gift tags.

One way we’ve made gift giving a little more fun (and easier!) is using note cards as birthday cards.  I always have note cards with the girls’ names printed on them so we can write thank you cards.  Each girl gets their own design and then I usually have one card that’s for all of them to use.
Since we always have them in the house, we attach them to gifts as a gift tag.  There’s no need to sign their name since it’s already printed on there but the girls have plenty of room to write a personalized message.

I’ve been searching for new designs because we’re just about out of cards and I found these gorgeous ones at Minted.  I took screen shots of the ones I personalized.
I love this flowered note card.  It has all the girls’ favorite colors and has plenty of room in case they all want to write a note.
This one was my favorite.  It’s a photo note card that has xo on it.  I sign everything with an xo and the girls now write notes to me and sign them the same way.  This photo I put on it is a little older, but it’s still my favorite of the girls and I think they still look mostly the same.

I got this idea when our friends Kathleen & Brian gave us a housewarming gift and they used one of the Thank You cards from their wedding as the gift tag.  I thought it was such a great idea!  After all, I still had a ton of thank you cards left over from our wedding.

I took a peek at Minted’s wedding line and I have to say, I am crushed that Minted wasn’t around when I was getting married.  I would have been in heaven with all the personalization and color changes I could have done.  Almost fifteen years ago we ordered our wedding invitations from a catalog!

These were some of my favorite wedding thank you notes:

This ampersand design was cute and the wedding invitation that went with it was even cuter!

I also adore this heart thank you card.

My eyes were instantly drawn to this flower thank you card, too.

I hope this Simple Solution gave you some great ideas for making gift giving easier!
