Dear Me Tomorrow: store-bought is okay

Dear Me Tomorrow:

Tomorrow you will be celebrating your child’s birthday at school.  Remember that even though you are celebrating her birthday 2 days late, she’s still excited.  She doesn’t care that it’s not her actual birthday.  She thinks we have stretched out her birthday for 2 extra days and because of that she’s thrilled.

She wanted chocolate chip muffins as her birthday treat.  It’s okay to buy store bought muffins.  I’ll be honest here: She doesn’t care.  Her classmates don’t care.  (You know they’re going to inhale those muffins in 30 seconds anyway, right?)  The only person who may care is you.  Don’t feel guilty about it.

The joy for her is in celebrating her birthday, not in how much time you spend in the kitchen.

You are an amazing mom.

Signed,
the Betty Crocker Me of Yesterday
