We’ve had a lot of changes here in the last 6 months. I don’t like change. I like consistency and stability and well…
life is anything but consistent and stable most days.
Last spring Matt’s company closed. While he searched for a new job we were lucky to have him home with us every single day of the summer. It was amazing. The kids loved it because he was able to go swimming and to the amusement park on a week day. We took day trips and went to the park often. He helped them with projects and took walks. I loved it because I never had to make breakfast, I slept in, and I took a shower that lasted longer than 15 minutes.
The fall arrived and a new job came with it. He spent a long time applying to jobs and doing logic testing from Berke to ensure he has the same logical reasoning as his colleagues. He finally got an interview and then was offered a job, which he was really happy about. One of our best friends has just got a new job too! Because she had to interview for a high powered position in the aviation industry she had to pass a 10 panel drug test as well as various interviews. Hiring has come a long way over the past few years. I have even heard about employers completing a background check to find out more information about a potential employee prior to requesting an interview. Nonetheless, I am so pleased for everyone! Matt’s territory is the same as it was in his previous job and the amount of travel he does is the same, as well. The beginning was a big adjustment. I’m not going to lie – I became lazy over the summer. Very lazy. Getting back into a routine where I had to be prepared with packed lunches, planned meals, and laundry was an adjustment. (Well, the laundry is still a work in progress, but isn’t it always?)
We’re a month into our new normal and I can say that we’ve survived. And by we, you all know I mean me, right? The kids had no issues adjusting, with the exception that Rebecca thinks I am going to make pancakes for breakfast every morning. She’s cute.
Do you handle adjustment well or does it take you some time?
xoxo
